Inside Kilome – Mukaa

Mukaa in Kilome constituency Mukaa District is host to Kenya’s first inland Mission Station of the ‘African Inland Missions – AIM’ now operating as African Inland Church – AIC, which in turn hosts one of the countries school of excellence in terms of continual improvement on performance – ‘Mukaa Boys’ It is located about 10kms from Mombasa road up Kilome Hills and hosts one of the only colonial houses built in 1903 still standing in Kenya today.
Mukaa is a settled region said to have gotten it’s name from early mission work in the region where the missionaries local aids/helpers told locals(kamba’s) they will get lost (mu kaa in local kamba dialect) if they didn’t embrace this new religion ‘Christianity’. It also hosts a childrens home where guests can enquire on voluntourism.
