Learning about Snakes of Kilome

Did someone say this is the year of the snake on Chinese calendar? Whenever snake’s are mentioned a lot of people avoid looking at them or quickly arm themselves for war/to kill them!
My experience in the bush has been snakes tend to avoid humans unless threatened.
Snakes in Kilome range from Constructors like Pythons and house snakes to poisonous ones like Cobra’s and bush snakes like this

Eastern stripe-bellied sand snake which is quite common and easily seen especially after a cold spell and the sun comes up. You will then find him warming himself in the open but moves away quite fast! He is known to move around during the day.

The ‘Northern brown house Snake’ above is a constrictor that is active after dark. He allowed me within 15cms to take this picture with a wide angled lensed camera. Should you try the same?
*my rule is avoid confrontation with snakes unless necessary and always seek to give them space to feel comfortable to get away.
