A day in Kilome’s Galagos Sanctuary

Galago world in Africa

After months of pursuation I was finally invited into Kilome’s private galagos sanctuary. A unique habitat that allows you to see this secretive  norctanal African primate up close during the day.

3hrs of guiding later i still didn’t have an image – not because we hadn’t seen a number of them but the sheer drama and excitement of the moment made me forget to press the “record’ button.

Running out of time the resident guide asked me to be a little patient as he sought a spot for me to capture ‘One’ shot of this female carrying a baby (1st image). An expert at their behavioural traits, he’s fast to locate them.

Entry is pre-booked and limited to not more than 4individuals at a go to minimize disturbance. Be ready to crawl or kneel to see them and access their lifestyle.
